A Polar Autumn

One thing I like about the zoo is seeing things that you don’t see every day. If ever! Like a polar bear surrounded by colorful autumn leaves. :)

Autumn Colors at the Zoo

Walking around the zoo in the fall is pretty awesome. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this last Autumn. Fall is my favorite season. Maybe these pictures will help cheer up your winter. :)

Faintly Macabre

Bonus Points if you get the reference in the title! :)

I went to visit the gorillas the last time I was at the zoo, and there were none. I guess the late fall weather of Iowa is just too different than the late fall weather of the African jungles for them. I walked around to make sure they were all gone, but they had all been moved inside, and this was all I found all over Gorilla Valley.

I think they must have used jack-o'-lanterns for the heads, and the gorillas probably ate them. :)

Is this the face of a killer? :)

Play With Your Food!

The orangutans at the zoo are given colorful plastic balls with holes in them at meal time. The balls are filled with vegetables to give the orangutans a bit of a challenge as they eat. It is really funny to watch them play with these balls and try to get the food from them. The one orangutan threw out all the lettuce and went for the big chunks. Everyone there found it really funny that he didn’t want to eat his salad. :)
