Tiny Kangaroos

Every time I visit the zoo I’ve looked for the Kangaroo Rats, but they are always hiding. Usually they borrow under the wood chips and shavings and make little nests out of sight. Yesterday, they were finally all out in the open!

For those who may not know, Kangaroo Rats are neither kangaroos nor rats. They are bipedal rodents with tails longer than their bodies and heads. They get around by hopping on their large back feet, hence the name “Kangaroo Rat.”
